The Munich University of Digital Technologies & Applied Sciences offers English-language programs that train international talents to develop and implement innovative digital technology applications in private, public, and civil society organizations. The current programs, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, and Digital Industrial Engineering, impart essential skills for quickly understanding application areas, identifying innovation potential, and technically and organizationally implementing innovations within organizations. Active learning is a core element of the teaching concept. Industry partnerships for research and development ensure the programs are application-oriented and up-to-date.

The university is seeking to fill the following professorships:

  • - W3 Professor (m/f/d) for Industry 4.0 and IoT and Head of the Digital Industrial Engineering program, with research and development (R&D) expertise and practical experience in the field of Industry 4.0 and IoT in an application area.
  • - W2 Professor (m/f/d) for Software Implementation in the Software Engineering program, with R&D expertise and practical experience in the implementation, testing, and operation of secure and useful software.
  • - W3 Professor (m/f/d) for Secure Computing and Head of the Cyber Security program, with R&D expertise and practical experience in the design and implementation of secure computer applications.
  • - W3 Professor (m/f/d) for Software Design and Head of the Software Engineering program, with R&D expertise and practical experience in the areas of requirements engineering, software design, and agile software development.

We expect applicants to be willing to assume leadership roles within the degree programs and university organization and to actively contribute to the development of research and development activities.

Teaching Load and Course Allocation
Each professorship (m/f/d), together with a dedicated research assistant (to be hired), is expected to offer teaching activities equivalent to 15 ECTS credits per semester, primarily covering the second and third years of the respective programs.

Applicants must meet the requirements of the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act and additional university-specific criteria:

  • - A completed relevant university degree
  • - Pedagogical aptitude and a willingness to engage in problem-based teaching and active learning coaching
  • - Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by a quality doctoral degree
  • - Outstanding achievements in applying or developing scientific knowledge and methods through at least five years of professional experience, of which at least three must have been outside of the higher education sector
  • - Willingness to fulfill the responsibilities of a university lecturer with an awareness of working at a private institution—especially regarding public representation, student support, and student development

Given the international and inclusive focus of the programs, strong English language skills are required. Academic studies or professional experience at an English-speaking university is advantageous, as is:

  • - Industry experience relevant to the specific study program
  • - Proven success in university-level teaching or relevant publications
  • - Social skills such as strong leadership abilities and the capacity to inspire and motivate a team
  • - Excellent communication skills

Job sharing and part-time employment (>80%) are possible. Remuneration is based on the Federal Salary Regulations in categories W2 or W3 (as stated above).

The appointments are made in accordance with the Higher Education Act, the university's constitution, and its appointment regulations. The university’s decision to appoint a candidate is submitted to the relevant ministry for approval.
